A colorful popsicle stick leaf elf craft, featuring a whimsical elf figure made from decorative leaves

Get the kids ready for some fun and creativity this weekend with this fun craft idea! Have them make their own Wood Scoop Stick Leaf Elves with a few simple supplies and watch their imaginations take flight!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Scoop Sticks
  • Plastic Leaves
  • School Glue
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Paint Pens or Markers
  • optional – raffia, rhinestones, glitter glue

Directions:

  • First have children paint or draw on a face, hair or anything else they like on their wooden scoop stick.
  • Now grab your colored cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a small triangular hat for each scoop stick elf you want to make.
  • To finish off the Leaf Gnome Elf Puppet – glue on a plastic decor leaf to the center of the scoop stick {this is the elf’s outfit} along with the cardstock hats.
  • At this point, children can also add even more embellishments {like raffia ribbon, glitter, rhinestones} that they see fit to really make it their own.
  • Remember – you can also add some long yarn or cardstock hair too!
  • Once finished, let it dry completely and display proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
