Paper Plate Lily Pad w/Handprint Frog

This fun and easy craft idea is perfect for kids of all ages! Let them get creative making a frog out of a paper plate and some handprints.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate {one per lily pad craft}
  • Green Tissue Paper
  • Medium Sized Circular Paper Doilies {one per craft}
  • School Glue
  • Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil or Marker
  • optional materials – other embellishments like glitter, flower stickers etc.

Directions:

  • First cut a small triangular piece out of your paper plate to give it the shape of the water lily leaf. Discard the cut piece from the paper plate.
  • Next up – cut your green tissue paper into small squares.
  • Put a good amount of glue all over the leftover paper plate piece. Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the plate is completely covered.
  • Next take the paper doily and glue it to the center of the decorated paper plate.
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Lily Pad craft, trace and cut out a green handprint to make a frog {with tongue!} for the center of the lily pad. Go ahead and glue him to the center of your craft.
  • Then allow it to all dry completely before you display it proudly for all to see!

MAKE IT YOUR OWN TODAY – don’t have a white paper doily in your stash for this water lily craft?! No worries! Swap them out for a white cupcake liner or coffee filter instead! You can also use large googly eyes in place of making your own on the handprint frog.
