Paper Plate Go, Dog. Go! Craft Idea

Happy Monday my crafty friends! I’m so excited that you are here and that I’m FINALLY able to add this Go Dog Go paper plate craft to the book inspired blog archives today! I just hope you like it as much as we do and are inspired to recreate it too!

Not only is this paper plate dog kid craft SUPER easy and fun for children of ALL ages BUT it also goes along perfectly with one my favorite children’s books, Go, Dog. Go! by P.D. Eastman.

Reading goes to the dogs in this timeless Beginner Book edited by Dr. Seuss. From big dogs and little dogs to red, green, and blue dogs, dogs going up and dogs going fast . . . who knew dogs were so busy? And laughter will ensue at the repeated question “Do you like my hat?” Like P. D. Eastman’s classic Are You My Mother? Go, Dog. Go! has been a go-to favorite for over fifty years, leaving audiences of all breeds wagging their tails with delight.

So what are you waiting for? Help your child grab those craft supplies and get to work on this Go Dog Go craft today! Don’t forget to read the book with your child, in honor of your creative adventure! Happy crafting my friends!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Brown Tissue Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Stapler
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First cut your brown tissue paper into small squares {let the kids practice their cutting skills!}
  • Set them aside.
  • Next take your paper plate and cut a slight section out of it, to create the head & nose of the dog {use my picture as an example.}
  • Now put a good amount of glue all over the paper plate.
  • Have children place the tissue paper on top of the glue, until the paper plate is completely covered.
  • While they are working on that, cut out the other dog features. Think ears, nose, scarf, eyes, goggles, hat etc.
  • To finish off the Go Dog Go Paper Plate Kid Craft – staple/glue on the cardstock paper pieces in their designated spots, as well as other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display proudly for all to see!

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
