Bird Nest Sensory Bin Idea For Spring

Spring Sensory Bin Idea

Did you catch our Carrot Garden Sensory Bin idea that I shared last week? Well – continuing on with the theme, today I have another fun sensory bin idea that is perfect for the upcoming change in weather!

When I think of spring, I always think of birds and them building nests for their eggs. So without further ado – here is how I pulled together today’s Bird Nest – Sensory Bin Idea. No doubt – it’s really simple and inexpensive to put together on the fly. In fact – all the supplies came from Hobby Lobby {which you probably go to on a weekly basis anyways} so it was a one-stop-shop activity!

And as a quick reminder if you don’t know what a sensory bin is – it’s basically a small plastic bin full of different materials that stimulate the various senses {touch, smell, hear, see and sometimes taste} and allow the child to explore in a small contained area.

Sometimes these bins have a theme but they don’t necessarily have to have one. I personally love the ideas of doing themes though so I can center them around books & certain holidays. I like to tie things in so it’s like a full day of learning.

Besides keeping my son occupied for a good 30 minutes – sensory bins are great for developing his fine motor skills, thinking skills, vocab and also giving him a creative outlet, with problem solving as well. Best part is that a lot of times you can find the materials/supplies for the bins for cheap and you can reuse them in several different themes.

So follow my step-by-step tutorial below, so you TOO can pull this EASY Bird Nest Sensory Bin Idea together in no time! Then let your children explore and expand their imagination too! #gluedtomycrafts

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
