Paper Bird's Nest Craft For Kids

This easy and adorable paper bird’s nest craft is perfect for kids of all ages! Learn how to recreate it with your little one today!

Craft Supplies:

  • Bird Printable – on our spring landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Writing Utensil
  • Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Scrapbook Paper Scraps
  •  Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free yellow bird printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print to make TWO paper bird nest crafts today. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and trim out ONE of the bird shapes from it.
  • Save the remaining paper {with the second bird} for repeating the craft later on.
  • At this point in time you can also add a googly eye to the bird cutout as well.
  • Now grab a single sheet of tan or brown cardstock paper and your choice of writing utensil.
  • Pick a hand – any hand will do!
  • Lay it flat on the cardstock paper and trace around the hand & arm. This is the start of the tree branch and your template for the craft.
  • When ready, trim out the traced tree branch design with your scissors.
  • Next up – grab your glue stick and glue that cutout to your light blue cardstock paper. You just want to make sure you leave some room for your bird & the nest.
  • Follow that up by gluing down the bird cutout on the “tree branch” so you can start adding the paper nest pieces around it.
  • Now you are ready to cut your paper scraps into long, thin strips for the bird nest. They don’t have to be perfect or all the same length {just like a real nest!}
  • Glue those onto the blue paper, right under the bird design but on the handprint tree branch cutout.
  • Add as many pieces of paper as you like to create your nest shape. You want it to be nice and “fluffy” though.
  • The last step is to cut out a few small leaves from the green cardstock paper and glue those on as well.
  • Now add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your bird nest paper piece proudly for all to admire!
