There is something truly special about helping kids visualize their dreams. It’s not just about asking them, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It’s about empowering them to feel optimistic about the path ahead. This “Torn Paper Light Bulb” craft is a fantastic way to spark that conversation. It combines simple motor skill practice – with a powerful message: My Future Looks Bright!
This project is perfect for the start of a new school year, New Year’s resolutions, or just a rainy afternoon when you need a boost of positivity. The bright yellow scraps come together to form a glowing bulb, symbolizing big ideas and shining potential. Let’s get crafting and help our kids see just how brightly they can shine!
Craft Supplies:
Before you begin, gather these materials:
- STAR PRINTABLE – on our landing page
- Cardstock Paper {any color}
- Yellow Construction Paper
- School Glue
- Washable Craft Paint
- Printed Picture
- optional – loose craft glitter
Pro tip: If you want to go eco-friendly, use old magazines, wrapping paper scraps, or even leftover tissue paper from holiday gifts to bring the star to life!
Directions:
- First download and print the FREE my future is bright template listed above, on a single piece of cardstock paper. You will need to print ONE for each craft you want to do with your child.
- Now help your child cut/tear their yellow construction paper into small pieces.
- Next grab the school glue and put a good amount of glue ALL over the inside of the lightbulb design on the printable.
- Have children place their paper pieces on top of the glue {adding more if needed} until the bulb is completely covered.
- For added fun, I also add some fingerprint painted dots to look like star bursts.
- The final step is to add a photo to the center to finish off the overall design and pull together the overall theme.
- Once done decorating, set aside to let it all dry completely before displaying/gifting proudly!
