Craft Supplies:
Before you begin this exciting craft, gather all the necessary supplies. Having everything ready makes the process smoother and more enjoyable for both kids and adults.
- Small White Paper Plate
- 4×6″ Printed Facial Picture
- Scissors
- Brown Craft Paint
- Paint Brush
- Stapler
- School Glue
- Pencil
- Brown Cardstock Paper
- Orange Cardstock Paper
- Red Cardstock Paper
- optional material – ribbon/hot glue gun for hanging
Directions:
Now that you’re equipped with all the materials, let’s jump into the crafting process! Follow these simple steps to bring your turkey frame to life.
- First cut out a circle shape out of the center of your small paper plate {don’t cut the rim though!} to create an opening for your picture.
- Discard the excess paper you just cut out.
- Next up – paint the paper plate shape completely brown.
- Set aside to let it dry a bit.
- Next grab your brown cardstock and pencil.
- Trace/cut out TWO handprint cutouts for the feathers.
- If desired, add glitter to the two cutouts.
- At this point in time you should also cut out a triangle nose and his waddle.
- Now we are ready for assembling. Gather all your pieces.
- Trim down the printed picture to be placed inside the paper plate frame.
- Go ahead and staple the “feathers” in place.
- Follow that up by stapling {or gluing} the nose pieces in place.
- If desired – add other embellishments or hot glue a piece of ribbon to the back for easy hanging.
- Then display proudly for ALL to see!
Creating a paper plate turkey picture frame encourages creativity and storytelling. Kids can personalize their creations, making each turkey unique. This not only boosts their confidence but also allows them to practice decision-making as they choose colors and decorations.
