Popsicle Stick Christmas Candle

Popsicle Stick Christmas Candle

With just a few minutes of your time, you can make an easy handprint Christmas candle craft with your child, that will bring joy to loved ones this holiday season.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {3 per candle craft}
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks {2 per candle craft}
  • Low Temp Glue Gun
  • White Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Scissors
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Poinsettia Flower Stickers or Embellishments
  • optional materials – loose craft glitter

Directions:

  • First things first – get the glue gun hot and ready.
  • Assemble the base of your Christmas candle by gluing THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence door {3 next to each other and the mini popsicle sticks across to secure in place.}
  • Allow it to dry completely. Repeat for each candle you want to make today.
  • Now grab your white craft paint, paint brush and the popsicle stick shape you just made.
  • Go ahead and paint the popsicle stick shape completely white.
  • At this point in time {and while the paint is still wet} you can sprinkle some loose craft glitter on top.
  • Set aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • Now grab your green cardstock paper, pencil and scissors.
  • Trace and cut out TWO handprints for the greenery that will go around the candle.
  • At this point in time you should also cut out the “flame” for the top of the candle, from the yellow cardstock paper.
  • Finally, the last step – gluing all the paper pieces in place on the painted wood shape. Start with the handprint “greenery” on the bottom and then work your way up.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of your finished craft stick Christmas candle creations to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
