Paper & Paint Handprint Christmas Ornament Keepsake Craft

Handprint Christmas Ornament

This paper and paint handprint ornament is the perfect way to remember your child’s hand each year! Follow our simple tutorial below!

Craft Supplies:

  • Ornament Printable – on our landing page
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Rhinestone Stickers
  • Christmas Bow Sticker
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils

Directions:

  • First grab the ornament keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided Christmas bulb file on your choice of colored cardstock paper.
  • Next grab your craft paint, as well as your foam paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick one of your child’s hands {left or right – doesn’t matter!}
  • Paint the palm and fingers of your child’s hand completely and press it down in the center of the printable, right in the middle of the circle design. Make sure you wiggle each fingers so the paint transfers really good.
  • Now carefully lift up your child’s hand from the printable and clean off the excess paint from their hand, with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • When the handprint you just made on the paper is dry enough, it’s time to start embellishing the ornament {and the remainder of the paper.}
  • Go ahead and add ANY and all embellishments to give their holiday themed Christmas ornament piece a personalized look. We did a Christmas bow and rhinestones on ours. You can also color in the hanging garland in the printable however you like!
  • Don’t forget to write your child’s name, age and date on the back!
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint Christmas ornament keepsake piece!
  • BTW – you can also do this very craft with painted BABY FOOTPRINTS instead – hint hint! That would be a REALLY special gift for grandparents under the tree!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
