Winter Hats Made From A Paper Plate

Snow days are always magical at first but once that boredom bug kicks in, it’s ALL over. Am I right?

So on that note, if you really want to turn and make a snow day one to remember, you are going to want to recreate today’s Paper Plate Hat Friends tutorial! Everyone can make their “own” version of a smiling hat friend, without added fuss or mess! You probably even have the materials on hand RIGHT NOW so there is honestly NO excuse not to make it happen!

Smiling Paper Plate Winter Hat Friends - Kid Craft

These adorable paper plate winter hats are perfect for keeping the kiddos entertained on a snowy day!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate {one plate will make TWO winter hat crafts}
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Craft Paint {any color you like!}
  • Paint Brushes
  • Scrapbook or Cardstock Paper {any print or color you like!}
  • Large Pom Poms {one per winter hat craft}
  • School Glue
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • Wiggle Eyes {two per winter hat craft}

Directions:

  • First things first – cut your paper plate in half. Straight up the center to make TWO equal hat pieces.
  • Pull aside one of the paper plate halves.
  • Next is painting. Paint your paper plate piece however you like!
  • Now grab your scrapbook paper and/or cardstock.
  • Trim out TWO separate rectangular pieces that will be on the bottom of your winter caps.
  • Staple them on to the painted paper plates.
  • To finish off your Winter Hat Friends, use paint to draw on a smiley face to the paper plate piece, along with gluing on the wiggle eyes so they can see.
  • Glue on your large pom poms on the top of the finished pieces and set aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly!
