Colored snow paint is a vibrant, non-toxic liquid designed to spread color across snowy surfaces. It works like regular paint but is made specifically for snow, using food coloring. Available as a DIY option, snow paint is safe for both the environment and little hands eager to paint the town (or backyard) red, blue, green, and beyond!

Not only is it a fantastic way to entertain kids during the long winter months, but it’s also an opportunity for adults to tap into their creative side. Best of all, it’s easy to make, budget-friendly, and opens the door to endless fun activities.

Directions:

Follow these steps to create vibrant snow paint quickly.

  • Just put a few drops of food coloring into your plastic squirt bottles.
  • Now add some tap water inside.
  • Close the lid on tight and shake until it’s well combined.
  • That’s it! Your snow paint is ready to use. Now take the your food colored water to paint the snow.
  • If you prefer new colors mid-activity, simply rinse out the bottles and start again.

Tips for a Successful Snow Painting Experience:

  • Dress Warmly: Dress everyone in waterproof clothing and gloves to keep them warm and dry during the activity.
  • Work Quickly: Snow paint works best on fresh snow. Avoid painting on icy or compacted areas where colors may not absorb as well.
  • Opt for Biodegradable Supplies: Use environmentally friendly materials to ensure you’re keeping your favorite outdoor spaces clean and green.
  • Supervise Small Hands: While snow paint is non-toxic, younger kids should still be supervised to ensure they don’t ingest large amounts of the mixtures.
  • Take Photos: Snow art is temporary, so capture your favorite creations before they melt away!
