Inspired by my birthday last week and just the fact that you should celebrate EVERYDAY – today I present to YOU our Popsicle Stick Birthday Candles idea!
Perfect for pretend play {we put them in playdough} or you can actually use them for actual cake decorations! Best part? They are super simple to make so the kids can get involved in the creation part!!!
Did I mention they only cost a few cents to make? Awesome – right?! So let’s grab those supplies and CELEBRATE in true crafty style!
Just in case there is confusion, these “candles” are NOT meant to be lit. I repeat. Do not light these pretend pieces on fair. Please and thank you!
Craft Supplies:
- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 1 per craft
- Craft Paint {or paint markers}
- School Glue
- Loose Craft Glitter
- Yellow Cardstock Paper
- Scissors
Directions:
- First things first – paint your jumbo popsicle sticks {one per birthday candle} however you like. You can do a solid color or even a patterned design.
- Once done, add a line of school glue and loose craft glitter on top.
- When done, set aside to let them dry completely.
- While those are drying, go ahead and cut out some “flames” from the yellow cardstock paper.
- To finish off the Popsicle Stick Candles – glue the paper flames in place and let them dry completely before displaying/playing with proudly!
