Craft Supplies:

Before you start, gather all the necessary materials. Having everything on hand will make the process smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint {orange & brown}
  • Paint Brushes
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Scissors
  • Stapler/Adhesive
  • Green Pipe Cleaner
  • Small Googly Eyes
  • Sharpie Marker

These materials are inexpensive and likely already available in your home or classroom. If not, they can be easily found at any craft store.

Directions:

  • First things first – decorate your paper plate to look like a pumpkin. Start off by covering it with ORANGE craft paint and then adding a few lines of brown to the center, to give the “pumpkin” some dimension.
  • When done decorating the paper plate, set it aside till later.
  • Now grab all your sheets of cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a simple hot dog shape out of your “choice of colored” cardstock paper, for his body.
  • Next adhere some wiggle eyes and draw on a smile with the Sharpie marker, on the larger cardstock piece.
  • Set that piece aside.
  • Now, out of the brown cardstock paper, cut out TWO antennas for on his head, as well as the “stem” for on top of the pumpkin.
  • To finish off the Pumpkin Snail project, staple or glue the snail’s cardstock body to the decorated paper plate from the first step.
  • Follow that up by adhering the antennas in place as well.
  • Finally, curl the green pipe cleaner with your fingers and staple it onto the top of the paper plate.
  • Go ahead and add any other embellishments you see fit.
