So if you are preparing for the upcoming football season or you just love our idea THAT MUCH, you can find all the crafty details below. I found these particular football print cupcake liners at my local Dollar Tree store but I’ve also seen the same brand at Walmart recently.

Looking for a fun and easy football craft project to keep the kids busy this fall season? Look no further than this popsicle stick cheerleader puppet tutorial!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 1 per craft
  • Gold Pipe Cleaners – 1 per craft
  • Football Print Cupcake Liners – 1 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Small Bow Paper Punch
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First have children flatten/fold their football cupcake liner in half and glue it to the center of their popsicle stick. This is the cheerleader’s skirt.
  • Once the cupcake liner is down, grab your various Sharpie markers and draw on a face, hair and of course – her shoes onto the popsicle stick.
  • Cut out some long hair from your colored cardstock. Glue it to the back of the decorated popsicle stick.
  • Follow that up by gluing on a “hairbow” paper punch out to finish the glamorous look.
  • To finish, have children wrap/bend a single pipe cleaner a few times around the center of the popsicle sticks to resemble arms.
  • At this point children can also add other embellishments {like scrapbook stickers, glitter, rhinestones} that they see fit to really make it their own.
  • Then display/play with your popsicle stick cheerleader puppets proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
