Camel Craft Idea For Kids

You typically see them in the desert but I thought maybe they should make an appearance on Glued To My Crafts as well!

Inspired by my husband {yes – my husband has been deployed where seeing camels on a daily occurrence is pretty normal} I present to you MY version of a camel made from craft sticks, cardstock paper and our FREE camel head printable that you will find below.

I’ve checked the internet and this idea is completely unique to us & I hope you are inspired to recreate it with your little one today! Perhaps you could even pair it with a learning lesson, story time or maybe even the holidays.

The choice is yours and I hope you have a grand time doing it! Happy crafting my friends!

Popsicle Stick Camel Craft

This popsicle stick brown camel craft is perfect for kids of all ages! Not only is it a great boredom-buster, but it’s also a fun way to learn about desert animals.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • School Glue
  • Camel Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Tan Scrapbook Paper
  • Scissors
  • Wood Clothespins

Directions:

  • First grab three popsicle sticks {three per camel} and glue them together to look like a triangle.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • At this point in time, children can also paint their “camel” if they like!
  • While those are drying, grab your cardstock paper and cut a triangular shape that will be placed within the popsicle stick design.
  • At this time, you should also cut out one of the camel head shapes from the printable & color it in.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Camel – have children glue their paper pieces in place, as well as “pinching” the two clothespin legs on.
  • Follow that up by adding other embellishments they see fit to complete the look.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
