Chalk Art Craft Idea For Kids To Make On New Year’s Eve
Let’s end the new year with a CRAFTY bang – shall we?!
After much brainstorming on my end, on how to close the chapter of this year on our website, today I am taking our super popular “chalk art” technique {that has gone a little viral on our website} and incorporated it into an end of the year kids craft idea. The Glued To My Crafts way – of course!
I would like to think that this “last of 2020 kids craft tutorial” will have you excited to celebrate the big night in a unique way. With extra sparkle to really make it shine and pop from the paper! I would like to think our chalk art disco ball craft is a unique one EVERYONE will want to create this week!
My goal is that as you and your child lay those sparkles down & make those long chalk strokes on your cardstock paper, that it will allow you to “let it go” of whatever the previous year brought you {kick rocks 2020!} Think of it as therapeutic, while making beautiful, one of kind art together! Plus you can throw in a dance party if you like!
On that note, I personally want to say thank you to every single person who has visited our website, shared our tutorials or just supported me by sending in a simple picture of what you created with your child. You have made my journey with this website pretty amazing, not just this year, but every year.
I admit it. 2020 was pretty rough on me mentally but with me continuing my work on Glued To My Crafts, throughout it all, it has really brought me so much joy that I’m forever grateful for.
Thank you for your continued support. I still believe, no matter what, crafting helps to heal. Especially when you just need a moment to breathe and let go of whatever is bothering you. If anything, this past year has taught me how much creativity is REALLY needed in the world. Whether for leisure or for essential matters.
One last note – although 2020 hasn’t looked AT ALL like we thought it would, I really do hope you can still see some good things that came out of it all. No matter what – the new year is going to be so much better and AMAZING! I will see you in 2021 my dear friends and we are going to rock it. Even if it’s just in a crafty way!
Happy crafting and stay safe! Now let’s get to making some creative disco ball creations with chalk and paper! Find the full tutorial below! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:
- First things first – grab our free disco ball shape printable, listed above in the supply list.
- Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock. One print will give you ONE disco ball shape. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use only please.
- Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the “disco ball” design however you desire! Feel free to make it as elaborate or as plain as you like. The choice is yours on this one. Just hold off on the wet glitter until the last step, so it all stays in one place 🙂
- When done coloring in the disco ball, use your craft scissors to trim it out from the paper.
- Discard excess paper and set aside the shape.
- Now grab a single sheet of black colored cardstock and your various pieces of colored chalk.
- Starting in the center of the paper, make several lines going OUT, like a starburst or sun design. Add as many lines and colors as you like to make that “firework” look.
- When done with the chalk, use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
- Now grab your disco ball cutout from earlier and your choice of adhesive.
- Secure you decorated paper piece in the center the chalk design, so it looks like it’s sparkling from the lights hitting it.
- Go ahead and now grab your string & scissors.
- Measure and cut off a piece that will become what “holds” the disco ball in the ceiling.
- Secure it in place on the paper {in a straight line} using the glue or a stapler.
- Finally – the add sparkle! Add any other embellishments you see fit {like tons of glitter or star stickers all around}
- When done, be sure to let it dry completely in an undisturbed area.
- Then display your custom one-of-a-kind paper and chalk art disco ball piece proudly for all to see!
