Paper & Sidewalk Chalk Baby Bird Craft For Kids

This fun and easy baby bird craft is perfect for kids of all ages! All you need is some paper and sidewalk chalk to bring it to life!

Craft Supplies:

  • Bird Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Orange Crayon
  • Black Construction Paper
  • Sidewalk Chalk
  • Baby Wipes
  • Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free baby bird printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock. You only need ONE printable to make TWO chalk art bird crafts today. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the various shapes on it, completely orange. The nose and feet will be orange, while the eyes will stay blank in color.
  • When done coloring, trim out each paper piece and set them aside till later.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Pull one set of “bird facial pieces” aside for your current craft, while saving the other pieces for the second round!
  • Now grab a single sheet of black cardstock and your choice of color in chalk {I suggest 2-3 different colors to give your bird some dimension.}
  • Go ahead and draw/color in the bird’s feathers in the center of the paper with the chalk {see our image for example – just make several lines going outward from the center.} Add as much chalk as you like. You want it to be nice and “fluffy” though.
  • Use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
  • When done with the chalk, go ahead and grab your baby bird cutouts from earlier & your glue stick.
  • Glue all the pieces in their designated spots, on chalk art design you just made. I suggest starting with the triangle nose in the center and working from there.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your chalk bird paper piece proudly for all to see!
