Heart Shaped Unicorn Craft Idea
It all started with a single $2.99 pack of red heart shaped paper plates from Michaels. From there we have created a puppy, cat and even a sloth Valentine’s Day themed kid craft tutorial.
Continuing on with the fun, today we are adding a unicorn to the mix and I hope you are just as excited as I am for this latest inspiring DIY!
So without further ado… I want YOU to recreate some magical and extra “lovestruck” themed craft time with your child today, with our latest & greatest Paper Plate Valentine Unicorn kid craft idea!!!
Turn ordinary inexpensive heart shaped paper plates into one-of-a-kind unicorn pieces within minutes! Whether you use them as holiday party decor, pretend play unicorn pieces OR as creative Valentines for your child’s classroom party – this idea is sure to be a real “fast” winner!!!

PAIR THIS VALENTINE CRAFT WITH —> Craft Foam Heart Unicorn
Learn how to make this adorable paper plate unicorn craft with your kids this Valentine’s Day!
Craft Supplies:
- Heart Paper Plates – one per unicorn craft {I got mine at Michaels}
- Red Cardstock Paper
- White Cardstock Paper
- Gold Craft Foam
- Basic Craft Scissors
- Extra Large Wiggle Eyes – two per unicorn craft
- Hand-Held Office Stapler
- School Glue
- Red & White Craft Yarn
- Black Sharpie Marker
Directions:
- You will need ONE red heart shaped paper plate per unicorn craft. Pull it out and set aside.
- Now grab all your cardstock, gold glitter craft foam and scissors.
- Have children cut an oval shaped nose, a long triangle horn and two triangle shaped ears, for EACH unicorn they are making.
- Set everything aside.
- Now grab the red & white yarn.
- Cut a handful of 4 inch pieces of yarn {maybe 10-20 strands depending on the look you like}
- Lay them all together, facing the same direction. Cut another piece of yarn and tie it around the center of your yarn bunch. This will the unicorn’s hair.
- To finish off your Paper Plate Valentine Unicorn, have children staple {or glue} their cardstock pieces in place, as well stapling on the yarn hair.
- Then add the wiggle eyes and any other embellishments they see fit {like glitter, heart stickers etc.} before displaying proudly!
