Sponge Painted Birthday Cake Cards

These little sponge-painted birthday cake cards are so easy to make! The perfect craft idea for kids to recreate this weekend!

Card Supplies:

  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Adhesive
  • Craft Paint
  • Large Paper Plate
  • UNUSED Kitchen Sponge
  • Scissors/Paper Trimmer
  • Scrapbook Letter Stickers/Sharpie Markers

You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link

Directions:

  • First trim down your white cardstock paper so it will fit on the front of your pre-made cardstock cards. One piece for each card.
  • Once trimmed down, go ahead and glue those to the front of each card with your adhesive.
  • Repeat for each card you are making today.
  • Now grab your kitchen sponge.
  • Cut out a simple RECTANGLE piece for your cake slice. It can be any size you like, just as long as it’s not bigger than your card.
  • Now grab your paper plate and craft paint.
  • Squirt a little pink, purple and yellow craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Take your newly made “stamp” and rub it into the paint {but not too much or it will all blend to much together} until your sponge is completely covered.
  • Then take it and stamp it in the center of the white cardstock.
  • Pull up. Add another “stamp” on top of that, for another layer of “cake.”
  • Set aside and repeat for each card.
  • Next grab your Sharpie markers and draw “candles” coming from your cake.
  • To finish off the birthday cake themed cards, add your scrapbook stickers/use Sharpie markers around the cake design to say “Happy Birthday” or any other saying you like.
  • Finally – write a sweet message inside and mail away to the lucky receiver!!!

Extra Craft Tip – instead of a kitchen sponge, try thinking outside the box with your stamp. Use potatoes, apples or craft foam scraps to make your rectangle shape.
