School Bus Friends Made From Popsicle Sticks

“REV” up the excitement for the back-to-school season with this easy step-by-step craft stick school bus tutorial!

All you need is a few jumbo popsicle sticks, yellow craft paint and a little “sticky” imagination to make it come to life! It’s the perfect DIY school bus art project activity for one {or many} kids to do in honor of the time of year!

It’s time to get creative! Let your kids’ imaginations run wild with this yellow school bus craft idea from Glued To My Crafts!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 9 per craft
  • Yellow Craft Paint
  • Black Craft Paint
  • Pink Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • School Glue
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Black Sharpie Marker
  • Scissors

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your EIGHT jumbo popsicle sticks and school glue.
  • Lay FIVE popsicle sticks next to each other in a line.
  • Grab the remaining THREE popsicle sticks and glue them the opposite direction to create the body of the school bus.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Once those are dry, have children paint their popsicle stick shape however they like with the yellow paint as the body and the black/pink for the face.
  • Now grab your sheets of cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a simple rectangular shape for the eyes {a window shape with black marker dots.} Then cut out TWO wheels from the black for each school bus.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick School Bus Friends, glue the cardstock pieces in place on the popsicle stick shape, as well as any other embellishments you see fit {think rhinestones, glitter, personalized embellishments etc.
  • Then display or play with proudly!

Here’s your checklist of supplies to bring this craft to life:
