Paper Chain Hungry Caterpillar

Today we are bringing back to life to an old childhood favorite of mine! I present to YOU our Paper Chain Caterpillar kid craft idea and I hope you inspired to bring it to life in your home as well!

You probably remember make these as child WAYYYY back in the day so this will probably bring some smiles to your face!

It’s absolutely perfect to go along with the spring season, as well as the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. I’m sure this classic kid friendly idea is sure to be a real winner in your books and hearts!!!

So let’s grab those craft supplies and get to work on this simple paper caterpillar kid craft idea ASAP. You can find ALL the details you need to know, in the full tutorial below!

Paper Chain Caterpillar - Kid Craft Idea For Story Time Paper Chain Caterpillar - Kid Craft Idea For Story Time

It’s perfect for any time of year, and is a great way to keep the kids entertained. Check out the full caterpillar craft tutorial below!

Craft Supplies:

  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Hand-Held Office Stapler
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • School Glue

Directions:

  • First grab your red cardstock, green cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out FOUR long strips out of the green and ONE long strip out of the red.
  • One by one, staple and intertwine your cardstock “chain” together, with the red {the caterpillar’s head} in the front and the green being the body.
  • When done set aside.
  • Next grab your black cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a simple pair of antennas for your craft.
  • To finish off the Paper Chain Caterpillar, glue your wiggle eyes and black cardstock paper antennas to the “head” of the craft.
  • Then display proudly!!!
