Toilet Paper Roll Gingerbread Man

This toilet paper roll gingerbread man is super fun and an easy way to get into the Christmas spirit! He is made from a cardboard roll, so he is simple enough for kids to make, but still look really impressive. Why not give them a try this year?

You can’t “catch” him because he’s the gingerbread man BUT you can “craft” him up!

Today’s Paper Tube Gingerbread Man Puppet kid craft idea is not only super simple and completely customizable but it also goes along perfectly with the book “The Gingerbread Man Loose At Christmas” by Laura Murry {affiliate link on Amazon}

This Gingerbread Man was loose in the school and on the fire truck, and now he’s loose at holiday time!

Everyone in class is busy practicing songs and making goodies for their trip to town to thank community helpers, and the Gingerbread Man has made a gift for someone extra sweet. But before he can deliver his gift, whipping wind and swirling snow come to town, too. Slushy sidewalks are no place for a cookie, but this Gingerbread Man won’t let a little bad weather stop him!

“I’ll search on my own, as fast as I can!
I’ll dash through this snow. I’m the Gingerbread Man!”

With all the flavors of the season and generous dashes of kindness and gratitude, the Gingerbread Man’s newest adventure makes for a perfect read-aloud throughout the holidays.

So what are you waiting for? Don’t let this idea “run” away! Find the full tutorial below and “bake” up a sweet piece with your child today!

Here’s a fun and easy way to get your kids into the Christmas spirit! These toilet roll gingerbread men are simple to make, and provide hours of fun. Let the whole family get creative with this festive craft idea. Merry Christmas!

Craft Supplies:

  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Gingerbread Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First flatten out your cardboard tube and staple it on each end, to make a rectangle shape. This will be the gingerbread man’s body.
  • Set it aside.
  • Now grab your printed printable and choice of coloring materials.
  • Color in ONE of the head shapes from the printable and trim it out afterwards.
  • At this point in time, you can also add wiggle eyes if you choose.
  • When ready, go ahead and now staple that head piece, to one end of the flattened cardboard piece from earlier.
  • Now for the final assembling step! Staple BOTH jumbo popsicle sticks, in a “T” shape like a scarecrow, to the back of your flattened cardboard tube. This way you can hold him like a gingerbread man puppet.
  • Finally, add other embellishments you see fit before displaying/playing with it proudly!!!
