Popsicle Stick Gingerbread Man

This gingerbread man is easy and inexpensive to make, so it’s the perfect craft for a fun afternoon activity with the kids. And he’s just too cute!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 6 per craft
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Dark Brown Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Gold Glitter Glue
  • Kraft Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Scrapbook Paper
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First get your glue gun hot and ready!
  • Pull out SIX jumbo popsicle sticks per craft you want to make today.
  • Take three of them and glue them together to look like a triangle. This will be the body of the gingerbread man.
  • Repeat for each gingerbread man piece you want to make.
  • Allow the triangle shapes to dry completely.
  • When the triangle shapes are dry enough to the touch, grab your paper plate, brown craft paint, popsicle sticks and foam brush.
  • Squirt some brown craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Go ahead and use the paint brush to paint the triangle shape & remaining popsicle sticks completely brown.
  • Set them aside to allow them to dry completely.
  • Next up – choose a sheet of brown patterned scrapbook paper for inside your Christmas friend.
  • Cut out a large triangle out of it, that will fit inside the popsicle stick design you just made. This will be the body of your gingerbread friend. Set aside.
  • Now grab your remaining cardstock paper and cut out a large circular head & two shoes for him to wear.
  • Draw on facial characteristics on the head with your Sharpie marker and add on the wiggle eyes, as well.
  • When the popsicle stick triangle shape is dry enough, glue all the paper pieces you just made, in their designated spots.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Gingerbread Man Friends – glue the THREE remaining painted popsicle sticks to the BACK of the decorated triangle shape to make arms and legs. See our picture for an example.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit like glitter, stickers, sequins – whatever you craft heart desires! I used gold glitter glue, red sequins and extra glitter for frosting & sprinkles but feel free to change it up to fit your needs & desires!
