It’s the most wonderful time of year, and that means it’s also time to get crafty with the kiddos!

This Grinch craft is perfect for little ones – all you need are popsicle sticks, paint, and cardstock paper! Let’s get started!

Craft Supplies:

Before we get started, make sure you have everything you’ll need on hand. Most of these materials are inexpensive and likely available at craft stores or can be sourced online.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint {brown & green}
  • Paint Brushes
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Cotton Balls
  • Gold Pipe Cleaner
  • Washi Tape
  • Scissors
  • Black Puffy Paint
  • Christmas Ribbon

Directions:

Now, let’s jump into the fun part and start crafting!

  • Each friend will have a different look. Please use our pictures for an example of what to do!
  • First grab three popsicle sticks {three per friend} and glue them together to look like a triangle. Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat for each piece you want to make.
  • While those are drying, grab your cardstock paper {for each friend} and cut a triangular shape that will be placed within the popsicle stick design and be the face of each.
  • At this point in time, you should also cut out the other embellishments from the cardstock, for EACH friend. Like ears and a nose for the dog, Santa hat for the Grinch and long, stand up hair for Cindi Loo.
  • When the popsicle sticks shapes are dry enough, go ahead and paint them accordingly. Cindi Loo can stay plain for his skin tone but the Grinch should be green, while the dog is brown. Set aside to let them dry a bit.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Grinch Friends – have children glue their paper pieces in place on each popsicle stick shape, as well as any other embellishments to complete the loo. Like cotton balls for the grinch and the pipe cleaner antler taped to the back, for the dog. I even added a small heart sticker to mine, for the Grinch 🙂
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly for ALL to see!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
