Popsicle Stick Grinch & Friends - Kid Craft

This Christmas, get the kids involved in some fun crafts with these easy popsicle stick Grinch and friends. This is a great way to keep them entertained and busy while you’re getting ready for the holidays. Let them help make these characters come to life!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is such a classic. I remember watching it religiously EVERY year when I was younger. So you better believe, I’m super excited to take my lil man to the theater soon, to see the remake. Are you going to see it with your child as well? I sure hope so!

Like with most things, the new Grinch movie had me inspired and that’s what brought me here today for our latest DIY tutorial. I took our basic THREE popsicle stick shape and made the grinch and friends come to life with ease!

Perfect for boys AND girls alike! So let’s grab our supplies and make some adorable & completely customizable pieces together! Don’t forget to either watch the movie or read together the How The Grinch Stole Christmas book in celebration of your masterpieces!

Happy crafting my friends!!! Don’t forget to share pictures with us afterwards, on our Facebook page wall so we can give YOU a virtual high five from a far! I can’t wait to see which character you decide to recreate first!

Directions:

  • Each friend will have a different look. Please use our pictures for an example of what to do!
  • First grab three popsicle sticks {three per friend} and glue them together to look like a triangle. Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat for each piece you want to make.
  • While those are drying, grab your cardstock paper {for each friend} and cut a triangular shape that will be placed within the popsicle stick design and be the face of each.
  • At this point in time, you should also cut out the other embellishments from the cardstock, for EACH friend. Like ears and a nose for the dog, Santa hat for the Grinch and long, stand up hair for Cindi Loo.
  • When the popsicle sticks shapes are dry enough, go ahead and paint them accordingly. Cindi Loo can stay plain for his skin tone but the Grinch should be green, while the dog is brown. Set aside to let them dry a bit.
  • To finish off the Popsicle Stick Grinch Friends – have children glue their paper pieces in place on each popsicle stick shape, as well as any other embellishments to complete the loo. Like cotton balls for the grinch and the pipe cleaner antler taped to the back, for the dog. I even added a small heart sticker to mine, for the Grinch 🙂
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly for ALL to see!!!
