Pete Inspired Handprint Keepsake Craft Idea

Pete Inspired Handprint Keepsake

Want a fun and easy craft project for kids to tackle during story time? Have them make a handprint Pete the Cat keepsake!

Craft Supplies:

  • Dark Blue Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Dark Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Cardstock Paper
  • White Crayon or Paint Pen
  • Paper Scissors
  • Glue Stick or School Glu
  • optional materials – black Sharpie marker

Directions:

  • First things first – grab your craft paint, paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Next pick a hand – any hand!
  • Paint the your child’s hand completely blue and press it in the center of a single sheet of white cardstock.
  • Gently lift up their hand to reveal the handprint design underneath.
  • Go ahead and clean off excess paint with a few baby wipes & a quick trip to the sink.
  • Next grab your blue cardstock and scissors.
  • Cut out a head shape for Pete.
  • Now grab the remaining cardstock and cut out eyes and some blues for his feet.
  • To finish off the Handprint Keepsake – glue down all your cardstock pieces in place, draw on a nose and add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • I also drew on some whiskers with a black Sharpie marker.
  • When done – display proudly and snap a few pictures to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
