Hi friends! Are you as BIG of a fan as we are of the Pete the Cat book character like we are?? Of course you are! I mean – who isn’t especially if they have young children in their home?!
Recently my son and I made this adorable Pete the Cat Inspired Handprint Keepsake Idea together and it’s the PERFECT way to celebrate one of our favorite author and children’s book character together!
Plus it makes for a great keepsake and/or decor piece to keep for years to come {teachers – think bulletin board idea to show off!} You could even turn your paper Pete the Cat craft into a puppet for some pretend play. So many ways to take this craft idea!
So what are you waiting for? Make your own GROOVY Pete Inspired Handprint Keepsake and read some books in honor of him!
Happy crafting my friends! Don’t forget to share a picture of your paper handprint Pete the Cat with us on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts {affiliate link for stuffed Pete the Cat and book series}
Paper Handprint Pete The Cat Supplies:
* Dark Blue Cardstock
* Light Blue Cardstock
* Yellow Cardstock
* White Cardstock
* Black Cardstock
* Red Cardstock
* Paper Scissors
* Pencil
* Glue Stick or School Glue
optional – white craft paint/black Sharpie marker
Directions:
* Grab your pencil and trace one of your child’s hands on the dark blue cardstock.
* Trim it out with scissors.
* With the remaining dark blue cardstock, cut out a head for cat.
* Next grab your light blue cardstock.
* Glue his head and “handprint” body to the center of the cardstock.
* Now grab the remaining cardstock and cut out eyes, a nose and of course – a heart for his body.
* To finish off the Handprint Keepsake – glue down all your cardstock pieces and add any other embellishments you see fit.
* I went ahead and dipped the end of our pencil in some white paint & painted a small dot in his eyes for a similar look to the books.
* I also drew on some whiskers with a black Sharpie marker.
* When done – display proudly and snap a few pictures to share with us! #gluedtomycrafts
You can of course, do this craft with paint instead, like my example above! I just love the extra details of that aspect!
