Handprint Unicorn Keepsake

This paint handprint unicorn tutorial is the perfect keepsake craft idea for kids! Fun, colorful, and so easy to make!

Craft Supplies:

  • UNICORN FILE ON OUR LANDING PAGE
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable White Craft Paint
  • Large Foam Paint Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Marker

Directions:

  • First grab the FREE Unicorn Head printable above. Print it out, in color, on white cardstock paper {this is very important so the craft turns out correctly} You only need one print per craft.
  • Next grab your white craft paint and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Paint your child’s hand {their right hand so the pinky “tail” is in the right place} completely white and press it in the center of the printable to create the body of the unicorn.
  • Use baby wipes to remove the excess paint off their hand and send them to the sink for a quick wash.
  • While they are washing up, if desired, add some glitter on top of the WET white paint for a more fun look!
  • Then set it aside to let it dry completely before you draw on the finishing touches {tail hair and hooves} with the markers.
  • At this point in time, you can add other embellishments you see fit, as well as having children sign the bottom.
  • Then display/gift away your handprint unicorn paper craft proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
