Cinnamon Rolls & Spaghetti Pretend Play Set

Craft Felt Pretend Play Food

The last few weeks, I’ve had my little sidekick helping me out in the kitchen. From stirring the cooking spoon, to pouring things in to the bowl – he loves the hands on approach. I think I have a budding chef on my hands and I can’t complain about that!

Since my son loves to help out so much and I’ve noticed lately how much he enjoys “pretend” cooking with his plastic kitchen stuff, I decided it was time to add some new felt pieces to his play set to give it a “real” feel.

So you can imagine, that’s how today’s blog post came about. With just some felt, glue and a little imagination – I was able to pull together these felt Cinnamon Rolls & Spaghetti Noodle pieces together in less than an hour {yup – it’s that easy!} It’s pretend dinner and dessert without the real mess but it’s still just as fun!

Now let’s grab some supplies and follow our step-by-step tutorial below. If you can cut strips of felt, you are well on your way to pulling this together.

Did I mention this pretend felt play set can cost you less than $7 total to make??? So what are you waiting for? Get to work!

Happy crafting my friends!!! If you don’t mind – I would to see your felt spaghetti and cinnamon roll food play set in action, in your child’s pretend play kitchen. Come share pictures on our Facebook page! #gluedtomycrafts

Directions:

Felt Cinnamon Rolls Play Set:

  • First cut your white and tan felt into 1/2 inch strips. For each cinnamon roll you will want 2 tan/2 white strips of felt.
  • Place one strip of white felt on top of the tan felt. Put a layer of glue on top and start rolling the felt until it starts looking like a cinnamon roll. Add another layer of felt around that piece to get a good sized roll. Once done, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • To finish off the craft, add the “icing” on top. This is done by drawing on some squiggles of puffy paint and letting it dry completely before playing with.

Felt Spaghetti Play Set:

  • Simply cut your tan felt into 1/2 inch strips.
  • Place those in a bowl, along with some “meatballs” aka red buttons.

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
