Melted Snowman Craft Idea
Hope everyone is staying warm today! We are currently snowed in {yet again.} Welcome to Wyoming, right?
Because of the weather outside, we’ve been enjoying tons of movies and of course, tons of crafts. It’s like the best setup and perfect excuse to lounge around in PJ’s all day. I’m not complaining – one bit. Well, not until my husband has to go back to work…
So yesterday I shared on the blog how we “built” indoor snowmen with homemade playdough tutorial. Today we are continuing on with the snowman concept but melting him instead. In craft form – that is!
Today’s Cotton Ball Melted Snowman craft idea is another simple art project that you can pull together on the fly for your young child. The supplies you probably already have on hand {or can be easily substituted} and your child can have full control on how they “melt” their snowman. No mess mom! I promise!!! Just cotton balls, glue and a paper plate.
On that note, you can find ALL the details of how we pulled it together, in the full snowman craft tutorial below. I hope you and your kiddo have a blast “building” it in your home as well. Happy crafting, my friends!

Craft Supplies:
- Paper Plate {large or small}
- White Cotton Balls
- School Glue
- Mini Paper Cups
- Sharpie Paint Pens
- Black Pipe Cleaner
- Scissors
Customize It: if you don’t have a paper plate – cut a circle out of white cardstock/painted cardboard. Instead of cotton balls – you can use white tissue paper. Instead of a mini paper cup – use a toilet paper roll, cut in half and painted white. Those are just “some” of the possibilities with this melted snowman idea!

Directions:
- First things first – paint a snowman face on your mini paper cup. I used an orange & black sharpie for that.
- Next, using scissors, punch two holes in the center of your paper plate.
- Weave your pipe cleaner through the holes. This will be the snowman’s arms sticking out of the ground.
- Then glue on the paper cup to the center of the plate.
- Now smear a TON of glue all around the front of the paper plate.
- Hand over to your child and have them stick cotton balls on top of the wet glue. If they need to – they can add more glue.
- Once completely covered – set aside to let dry.

And that is the “mess-free” way to melt a snowman in your home. Super easy, right?
To change things up on this cotton ball melted snowman craft, you can have your child customize it a few ways. Use felt for a scarf or buttons for the eyes/nose. You can also have them really pile up the cotton balls. Let their imagination go loose!
