Handprint Penguin Hug Craft Idea

Keep the love alive this winter with a sweet handprint penguin hug craft! Let your little ones take their creativity for a spin and make something special that will last a lifetime!

Handprint Penguin Hug Craft Idea

Spread some winter cheer and get your kids creative with this adorable Penguin Handprint Hug tutorial! It’s a fun and easy way to capture the magic of the season! Just download, print and assemble!

Craft Supplies:

  • Penguin Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper {2 sheets!}
  • Crayons
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Ribbon
  • Googly Eyes
  • Glue
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – print out the provided penguin printable, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper.
  • Decorate the head and two heart shaped “feet” designs in the printable, with some crayons. You will want to leave the rectangle design blank from color but this is a great time to write a message on his “belly.”
  • When done coloring, trim out all the elements from the paper.
  • Discard excess paper.
  • Next grab your first sheet of black cardstock paper and pencil.
  • Trace both of your hands on the paper.
  • Trim out both designs.
  • Now grab the second piece of black cardstock paper. Fold it in half {hamburger style.}
  • Open it back up and cut it straight up the center to create TWO equal pieces.
  • Pull one half aside for today’s craft and save the other for  a rainy day.
  • Now grab the ribbon and cut off TWO long pieces.
  • Staple the ribbon and handprint cutouts to each side of the black cardstock sheet.
  • Follow that up by gluing on the penguin head on top, his belly in the center and his penguin feet towards the bottom.
  • To finish off the paper penguin hug craft, simply add any other embellishments {along with the wiggle eyes and if you choose, an orange beak as well} to bring the penguin to life.
  • Then display as is or gift away to spread some cheer this winter season!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
