Get into the holiday spirit with this fun gingerbread man photo ornament craft! Let your child’s creativity run wild and help them make a unique decoration for the tree, that family and friends will love year after year!

Gingerbread Man Photo Ornament Craft

Are you looking for an easy and fun Christmas craft idea to keep the kids busy and get them in the holiday spirit? Why not help them create their own little gingerbread man ornament, perfect for decorating your festive tree?

Making these cheerful ornaments is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your children as they develop their crafting skills.

Plus, when you hang these lovely handmade decorations up on display, it will bring warmth and cheer into any home during the holidays!

Craft Supplies:

  • Gingerbread Printable – on our landing page
  • Light Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Contact Paper
  • Embellishments
  • Printed Picture
  • White Tulip Puffy Paint
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or String

Directions:

  • First things first – download the gingerbread man printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on brown cardstock paper. One print gives you TWO chances to do this craft at once.
  • Use scissors to trim out ONE the shapes.
  • Go ahead and also cut out the center for the head.
  • Next up – cut two equal sized piece of contact paper.
  • Peel the backing off of one piece of contact paper and lay it down, sticky side up, on your work surface.
  • Lay the gingerbread man cutout on top.
  • Trim down your child’s picture so it fits inside the ornament. Lay it down as well.
  • Now peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of the first.
  • Use your hand to make sure everything is sealed together and that no bubbles exist.
  • When ready, use scissors to trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges.
  • Now for the fun part! The decorating! Use the puffy paint to add “frosting.” Go ahead and also add some “candy” buttons.
  • Allow the decorated piece to dry completely.
  • Finally, hold punch a hole at the top and string some string through it for easy hanging.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful gingerbread man ornament on the tree!
