This holiday season, get the kids involved in a fun and creative craft project that will keep them occupied and entertained while the dinner is cooking. This handprint “sweeter than pie” keepsake is easy and simple to make, but the results are charming and unique.

You can do a pumpkin pie like we did or change up the colors to reflect apple, grape etc.! The choices is yours!

Craft Supplies:

  • Pie Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Cotton Balls
  • School Glue

Directions:

  • First things first – grab the sweeter than pie keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided file on white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per craft.
  • Next grab your choice of coloring utensils and have children color in the pie printable however THEY like!
  • When they are done, it’s time for the paint! Grab your craft paint, paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick a hand – any hand will do!
  • Paint the palm and fingers of your child’s hand completely.
  • Now press it in the center {right inside the PIE design!} on the printable.
  • Make sure you wiggle each finger so the paint really transfers to the paper.
  • When ready, carefully lift up their hand to reveal the design.
  • Now clean off their hand with some baby wipes and a quick trip to the sink with soap & water.
  • To finish off the handprint pie keepsake, add some cotton ball “whipped cream” and ANY and all embellishments to give their Thanksgiving keepsake piece a personalized look.
  • Don’t forget to write your child’s name, age and date on the back!
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint Thanksgiving pie keepsake piece!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
