Plus, it makes for a sweet piece to slip into a scrapbook and reflect back on as the years go by!

Footprint Stepping Into The New Year Keepsake

Ring in the new year with this festive footprint craft! This free printable makes it easy to create a keepsake that captures your child’s excitement for the coming year. Simply press their foot into colorful paint and watch them leave their mark on 2023! Happy New Year!

Craft Supplies:

  • Keepsake Printable – on our landing page
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint {any color you like!}
  • Large Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Stickers/Embellishments/Paper Scraps

Directions:

  • First grab the stepping into keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now print out the provided New Year’s Eve file on a single sheet of cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per craft.
  • Next grab your choice of color in craft paint, as well as your foam paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick one of your child’s feet {left or right – doesn’t matter!}
  • Paint the bottom of their foot completely and press it down in the center of the printable, right above the “firework sparks.”
  • Now carefully lift up your child’s foot from the printable and clean off the excess paint with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • Add other embellishments to give your New Year’s themed keepsake piece a personalized look. I would start with a triangle “top” for the footprint firework and build from there.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint 2023 keepsake piece!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
