Kite Handprint Keepsake Craft

We are hoping to make this post go viral! With the “all about dad” day quickly approaching this weekend, I’m super excited to be sharing today’s Handprint “You Make My Heart Soar” Kite kid craft idea with you all right now! It literally can be made RIGHT NOW and be ready for Sunday, with little to no effort!

But wait – it’s not just for dad! Say what?!?!

Originally when I was designed this printable, I had ONLY dads on my mind. But after playing around with it, this idea became perfect for spring, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, teachers, grandparents – you name it! Anyone your child loves, this can be gifted to them!

So for memories and a simple gift idea that mom or dad can treasure for years to come, this DIY handprint keepsake craft is perfect for framing and/or turning into a card. Just grab the freebie file, print it out and then add your child’s handprint “kite” to the center to complete the craft!

Handprint Kite Keepsake (2)

Tell mom or dad they “make your heart soar” with our latest adorable free printable and handprint kite keepsake idea from Glued To My Crafts!

Craft Supplies:

  • Kite Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Sharpie Markers

Directions:

  • First grab the “You Make My Heart Soar” printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Now go find it and print it in color on a single sheet of white cardstock paper {or any color you like!}
  • Next grab your paint brush, craft paint and paper plate.
  • Squirt some paint on the paper plate.
  • Paint the palm of your child’s hand completely and press it in the center of the printable, right above the kite string.
  • Use baby wipes to clean off excess paint from their hand and send your child to the sink for a quick wash up as well.
  • Then set aside the printable to let it dry completely.
  • When ready {and the paint is dry} grab a Sharpie marker and draw on kite embellishments on the handprint.
  • Follow by that up by adding other embellishments you see fit {like some glitter on the handprint or bows on the kite string design} as well as having children sign the bottom.
  • Then display/gift your “handprint kite” piece proudly!
