Handprint Joy Keepsake Craft

We hoping to spread so much crafty JOY with our latest tutorial! Today’s Handprint Joy Keepsake Printable post, is perfect to make in honor of the Christmas season AND have a sweet handmade piece to give to others, to enjoy for years to come!

Handprint Joy Keepsake Craft For The Holidays

This is a sweet and simple way to capture the joy of the Christmas season. Capture your child’s handprints in paint or ink and frame them for all to enjoy! What a special handmade gift this would be for someone special.

Who can resist crafting up a creative handmade piece with their kids? I know we can’t – especially when it comes to the holidays! It’s the perfect excuse to dig out the art supplies and make crafts on the kitchen table, that are actually worth keeping for years to come!

On that note, at Glued To My Crafts we really do STRIVE to share paper craft tutorials that are not only fun to make with your child but the finished pieces can also be slipped into a 12 x 12″ photo album or a safe box, so you pull it out year after year.

I also have made it my goal to make it super simple for my readers {and their kids} to always have something quick and ready to give away at a moments notice. Think of the various paper keepsake ideas you find on our site as personalized holiday gift ideas for grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.!

With these simple steps and the free JOY printable I have provided below, you can make SEVERAL Christmas tree or snowman themed keepsakes with your child, in just a few minutes, with little to no hassle. Just download, print and add either a white or green handprint in the center.

Then once the paper JOY keepsake pieces are dry, you add a few coordinating embellishments and either gift the finished piece as is or frame it in a cheap Dollar Tree frame, so the lucky receiver can show it off in their home all season long.

Now what you waiting for?! Let’s get to crafting! No need to worry or stress because ALL the crafty steps and free printable can be found below! I think the hardest part is picking whether to do a snowman OR a Christmas tree for the centers!

So what will your choice? Share with us on our Facebook page and of course, show off those pictures of your finished handprint joy keepsakes, as well! We want to see how you give it your own holiday spin!

Happy crafting, my dear friends!!! Hopefully we are able to knock off a few people from your gift list today! #gluedtomycrafts

Handprint Joy Keepsake Craft For The Holidays

Handprint Joy Keepsake

This sweet little Christmas craft is perfect to make with your kids! Capture the joy of the season in a handprint keepsake that can be given as a special gift to someone you love.

Craft Supplies:

  • Free Holiday JOY Template Printable
  • Light Blue Or White Cardstock Paper
  • Color Printer
  • Craft Paint {white or green}
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Baby Wipes
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Cardstock Paper Scraps
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • optional – embellishments like glitter, rhinestones etc.

Directions:

  • First grab the JOY keepsake printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Decide whether you are doing a snowman or a Christmas tree for the center of the craft.
  • Now print out the provided joy file on the designated color of cardstock. Light blue for the handprint snowmen and white for the handprint Christmas tree.
  • Next grab either your white craft paint or green paint, as well as your foam paint brush and paper plate.
  • Squirt the craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Pick one of your child’s hands {left or right – doesn’t matter!}
  • Paint the palm of your child’s hand completely green or white and press it down in the center of the printable, between the TWO letters.
  • Now carefully lift up your child’s hand from the printable and clean off the excess paint with a baby wipe & a quick trip to the sink.
  • When the handprint you just made on the paper is dry enough, start embellishing it to look like either a holiday tree or a set of snowmen. For the Christmas tree you can add a paper star on top, as well as tree stump on the bottom. For the snowmen, I used Sharpie markers to draw on the small hats, noses and eyes.
  • Add other embellishments to give your joy themed Christmas piece a personalized look.

  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful handprint joy keepsake piece!
