If you have been a long time of follower of us, you probably already know that paint splat crafts are one of my favorite to share.

Then we take those paint smash masterpieces and make them even better with some added crafting techniques. Like with today’s idea – adding a cardstock cross embellishment to make it perfect to celebrate Easter!

So enough chit chat – today I present to YOU our beautiful Paper Plate Paint Splat Easter Sunrise kids craft idea. Wanna hear the best part about our idea? Just like a REAL sunrise, no two pieces will be alike and everyone will have a UNIQUE take on the craft!

Follow the full step-by-step tutorial below to see what I’m talking about! Then get ready to make your own paint marble sunrises POP from the paper! Happy crafting this symbolic season, my crafty friends!!!

Directions:

  • Please make sure you have a good working area that can get dirty because paint will squeeze out of the sides of this craft!!!
  • First fold your paper plate in half {one paper plate per cross craft you want to make.}
  • Unfold the paper plate and squirt a few lines of red, yellow and orange paint on one side of the paper plate {I like the Tulip Puffy Paint for this particular step since it’s in a nice controlled squirt bottle} Be sure to keep the paint inside the paper plate and not place too much down.
  • Once the paint is down, go ahead and fold/squish your paper plate together again. Be sure to rub your hand all over the folded piece, so the paint will cover your the inside nicely {paint WILL more than likely squeeze out the sides, so be sure to pay attention to that and clean up with baby wipes!}
  • Now carefully unfold your piece to reveal your mosaic sunrise design inside.
  • If desired, sprinkle some loose craft glitter on top of the wet paint. Shake off excess glitter.
  • To finish the Paper Plate Splat Easter Sunrise – cut/staple a simple cross shape out of cardstock paper to the decorated paper plate.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly for all to see.
