Popsicle Stick & Yarn Santa

This easy kids craft is perfect for Christmas. All you need are popsicle sticks, yarn and a little bit of creativity. Follow our simple tutorial to recreate this popular craft today!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • White Yarn
  • Basic Craft Scissors
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Red Pom Pom

Directions:

  • First get that glue gun hot and ready!
  • Glue THREE popsicle sticks together in a triangle formation.
  • Set aside and repeat for each Santa craft you want to make.
  • Next is the yarn beard. Cut off SEVERAL {we are talking maybe 30+} 12″ inch pieces of white yarn.
  • Tie them one by one onto one side of the popsicle stick shape. This will be Santa’s beard. Make sure you cover one entire side of the popsicle stick shape with the tied-off white yarn. If desired, once the yarn is tied on, trim down the beard with your scissors.
  • Once done with the white yarn beard, grab the cardstock.
  • Cut out a red triangular hat with white trimmings, for Santa.
  • To finish off the Yarn Bearded Santa – hot glue the cardstock hat in place on top of the popsicle stick shape, as well as the pom pom “nose” in the center of the beard.
  • Then display as is or hot glue some yarn to the back for easy hanging.

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
