While store bought cards are convenient, nothing says you care quite like a handmade card. Getting crafty with the kids is also a wonderful way to spend quality time together making memories.

Today I’m sharing a fun and easy project that makes use of a few items likely already in your home— raw potatoes, craft supplies and your imagination!

Not only will you and the little ones enjoy the creative process of decorating their stamped ice cream cones with stickers, glitter and more, but recipients are sure to smile when they receive such a nostalgic and thoughtful greeting.

So grab some potatoes and gather your art supplies, it’s time to get those creative juices flowing!

Potato Stamped Ice Cream Cards - Kid Craft For Summer

With just a few inexpensive supplies, you and your little ones can get creative designing unique ice cream cone cards perfect for thank you notes, birthday wishes or just spreading smiles!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Raw Potato
  • Kitchen Knife {ADULT SUPERVISION!}
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • For this QUICK handmade card tutorial, all you need to do is cut your raw potato in half for your stamp.
  • Next dip one half of the potato it in various shades of craft paint and stamp it in a triangular form on some cardstock.
  • Add ice cream embellishments like puffy paint and loose craft glitter &  you will have a stunning piece to gift away!
  • You can add sentiments like “I Melt For You” or “Stay Cool This Summer” in the inside of the card, to really tie the summer theme all together!
  • And that’s it! Super easy!!! Of course, repeat over and over again to spread some cheer!
