Hot Cocoa Mug Paper Plate Craft

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? Kids AND adults love this hot chocolatey drink, especially in a nice cozy mug.

From snowy outdoor events to movie time on the couch with the family – it’s a seasonal warm tradition that everyone wants and enjoys this time of year!

With that being said – today I’m sharing a KID FRIENDLY hot cocoa kid craft idea that won’t burn, spill or make a BIG mess during your Christmas celebrations. In fact – it might even bring some extra crafty cheer your way today!

Paper Plate Hot Cocoa Mug - Kid Craft

A fun and easy craft idea for kids – make a paper plate hot cocoa mug! This project is perfect for the winter months.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate
  • Brown Tissue Paper
  • School Glue
  • Craft Scissors
  • Held-Held Office Stapler
  • Craft Paint {any color you like!}
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • White Pom Poms or Cotton Balls
  • Cardstock Paper

Directions:

  • First squirt some paint on the outer rim of the paper plate and have your child paint it completely.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Next cut your brown tissue paper into small squares.
  • Put some glue in the center of the painted plate and have your child place the tissue paper on top to represent the “hot cocoa.”
  • To finish off the Paper Plate Hot Cocoa Mug, place a few cotton ball “marshmallows” in the center, as we well as stapler a cardstock handle to one side.
  • Then let it all dry completely before displaying proudly.
