Shocker – it’s been raining/snowing in Cheyenne, WY all weekend long. Yes – SNOW {UGH!} The way the weather has been going around here, I’m dreaming of sunny days and possibly even an island FAR away from here. Can you relate?
So on that note, I’m super super excited to be sharing this really easy and inexpensive Paper Plate Palm Tree {Kid Craft} with you all today. This craft is the perfect excuse to ignore the weather outside and craft the afternoon away, dreaming of beachy dreams.
Did I mention that this simple tissue paper palm tree craft also goes along perfectly with the book Pete at the Beach? Making this a great way to tie everything together with craft and storytime in a fun afternoon. Yup – this is a must-do craft that is perfect for kids of all ages so I suggest you grab your supplies, “sail” away with the kids and craft the afternoon away together!

Paper Plate Palm Tree Craft Supplies:
* Large Paper Plate {one paper plate per palm tree craft}
* Brown Tissue Paper
* Blue Tissue Paper
* Green Colored Cardstock
* Brown Colored Cardstock
* School Glue
* Kid Friendly Craft Scissors
* Hand Held Stapler
* Marker or Pencil
optional – sea shells
Directions:
* First cut 1/4 of your paper plate off. This is where the palm tree will sit {aka – the island}
* Next cut your brown & blue tissue paper into small squares {great for children to practice their cutting skills}
* Now put a good amount of glue all over the paper plate piece. Have children place a layer of brown tissue paper for the sand and blue underneath that, for the water.
* Once done, trace your child’s hands on the green cardstock for the palm tree leaves. Trim out. Then cut out the trunk of the palm tree out of the brown cardstock.
* To finish off the Paper Plate Palm Tree kid craft – staple/glue the cardstock pieces in their designated spots on the paper plate. Then display proudly! {or add other embellishments to really make it your own!}
