Sidewalk Chalk Art Hedgehog Craft Idea

You might be scared to touch the real thing… {let me REPHRASE THAT. You probably shouldn’t touch the real thing!} but you will want to get your hands on this Paper and Chalk Art Hedgehog kid craft idea that I’m sharing with you all today! It’s another addition to my chalk art collection on Glued To My Crafts and just like the others – I’m super excited for this one!

Our sidewalk chalk hedgehog may have colorful spikes that are popping out from the paper but he’s not pokey or scary at all to recreate! In fact, I think our hedgehog craft is super cute and sure to bring smiles to whoever sees him after you are done!

Paper & Chalk Art Hedgehog - Kid Craft Paper & Chalk Art Hedgehog - Kid Craft

Looking for a fun and easy craft project for your kids to recreate this afternoon? Try this paper and chalk art hedgehog art tutorial!

Craft Supplies:

  • Hedgehog Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Crayon
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Black Construction Paper
  • Brown Sidewalk Chalk
  • Baby Wipes
  • Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first – save our free hedgehog head printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Next, go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print the file on a single sheet of white cardstock. You only need ONE printable to make one HEDGEHOG crafts. Print as many as you like but only use our file for personal use please.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the head shape with your brown crayon.
  • Once done coloring, trim out the head shape. Discard excess paper.
  • Set aside the hedgehog cutout.
  • Now grab a single sheet of black cardstock and your various pieces of brown sidewalk chalk.
  • Make several lines going outward from the center of the paper {see our image for example} to make the spikes of the hedgehog. Add as many lines and colors that you like. You want it to be nice and “fluffy” though.
  • Use baby wipes to clean off excess chalk from fingers and hands.
  • When done with the chalk, go ahead and grab your hedgehog cutout from earlier & your glue stick.
  • Glue the shape to the center of your chalk art design you just made.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your chalk art hedgehog proudly for all to see!
