I’ve been in full swing of getting fall crafts/recipes/posts out of the way on Glued To My Crafts, that I completely forgot to share this quick Paper Plate Lion craft idea I did with Lil Man a few weeks back.

This lion themed craft idea is super easy, affordable and totally do-able for any craft novice. Even those moms who “claim” they aren’t crafty, can set this up for their child to do. I titled this as a toddler craft, but really any age can do it {Shh…I made one too!}

Little crafters can either do this tissue paper lion craft for a story time theme or after a trip to the zoo. My son & I did this craft together, after watching the movie The Lion King. If you have some imagination, you could also turn this Lion Paper Plate Craft into a mask for a quick Halloween costume.

On that note… are you ready to make it happen in your home today? Then keep scrolling to check out the FULL tutorial below. I just know you are going to have so much ROAR-SOME fun creating it with your kiddo! Happy crafting, my friends!

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – 1 per craft
  • Yellow Craft Paint
  • Orange Tissue Paper
  • White School Glue
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Scissors
  • Paint Brush
  • Baby Wipes
  • Black Marker
  • Orange Cardstock Paper
  • Stapler

Directions:

  • First have your child paint their large paper plate completely yellow. They can use paint brushes or my son’s favorite – their hands.
  • While your child is painting, use scissors to cut the orange tissue paper into a handful of small squares.
  • Once the paper plate is done and covered, put a good amount of glue all around the rim of the plate.
  • Next have your child stick the tissue paper to the plate, along the glue line you just placed down. This will be the lion’s mane.
  • Now glue on the large wiggle eyes and draw a mouth in the center of the plate to give the lion life!
  • At this point in time you can also cut out some half circle ears from the orange cardstock and staple those on, as well.
  • When done creating, set aside it aside, to let it all dry completely.
  • Finally, display your newly created paper plate lion head piece proudly for ALL to see!
