Despicable Me Minions {Crafts}

Source

Who loves the movie Despicable Me?

ME ME ME!

It's actually one of the few kid movies, I'm able to sit through & enjoy. Lil man {the child who doesn't sit still} even sits down to watch a few moments of it. He always points out the Minions as they giggle across the screen. So when my bloggy friend Rebecca from Dirt Don't Hurt posted on her Facebook page how she created minions with her child's handprints, I was instantly inspired. {I may have even screamed out in delight because it just hit me with a crafty wave} So today I'm sharing TWO crafts inspired by the movie Despicable Me & my friend Rebecca. Ready to see them?

Here's the first craft:

We just took some simple toilet paper rolls {I save EVERY single one that comes through our house for crafts} and turned them into little minions.

And here is what you need to make your own:

* Toilet Paper Rolls
* Yellow Paint
* Wiggle Eyes
* Scissors
* Construction Paper - blue/black
* Paint Brushes/Paper Plates
* Hot Glue Gun
* Black Sharpie

To make your own minions, it's going to be really simple. So simple, I lack the words to write when it comes to these post tutorials. {I hope I don't bore anyone!}

First paint your toilet paper rolls - yellow. You don't even have to cover the whole roll, but if you do - no problem! I just say the whole thing doesn't have to covered, because one half will be covered with the blue construction paper.

Once you got the paint down, set them aside to let it completely dry.

While you are waiting, cut your construction paper pieces. I created some "hair" with the black construction paper by cutting what kinda looks like a crown. Then with the blue construction paper I cut strips for the minions pants. I somewhat eye-balled it but the strips were about 2 inches wide & 5 1/2 inches long.

Once your toilet paper rolls are dry, it's time to hot glue it all together. The strip of paper goes around the bottom to give them pants. The eyes and hair go towards the top - where the yellow is.

To finish them off, draw on goggles & a smile. And you are done!

Now the second craft is even easier than the first! So easy, I don't have any pictures to show you how to create it - but it's pretty easy to understand.

All you need is:

* Blue & Yellow Paint
* Paint Brushes
* Wiggles Eyes
* Hot Glue Gun
* Construction Paper
* Sharpie

Basically the same supplies as the first craft, so it's easy to do these together! {Just be sure to have baby wipes close by!}

To make these cute footprint minions, paint your child's foot half yellow & half blue. Then press on the paper. Once it's dry, glue on the wiggle eyes & draw some goggles/hair/arms with the black sharpie. Of course - don't forget to add the month/year so you remember when it was made. My friend Rebecca did this same craft, but you use a handprint instead of the footprint. It would be great to create a whole army of minions, by doing handprints & footprints together.

So that sums up the new crafts we recently did - inspired by the movie Despicable Me. Pretty simple, right? Hope they inspired you too! Now go make some minions of your own!
