Crafting is a wonderful way to spend time with kids, especially during holidays like Easter. If you’re searching for an easy, creative, and engaging activity, look no further than this paper plate and thumbprint Easter egg basket!
It combines art, fun, and a hint of mess (which kids love), making it the perfect project for your little ones.
Craft Supplies:
Before getting started, gather the following materials. Most of these items are easy to find and might already be in your home or classroom.
- Large Paper Plate {white or brown}
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Cardstock Paper
- Markers
- Washable Ink Pads
- Embellishments such as small stickers & craft bows
Directions:
Follow these six simple steps to create your paper plate and thumbprint Easter egg basket craft.
- Start by taking your paper plate and cutting it in half. One half will form the base of your Easter basket while the other can be saved as a spare or for additional crafts.
- If using a white paper plate, paint it before moving forward. Otherwise, move onto the next step.
- Now grab your sheet of cardstock paper, the glue stick and a marker. We are going to make the basket now. Turn your sheet of paper so it’s in the portrait position on your table.
- Glue your half paper plate piece near the bottom of the paper. This way you have tons of room for fingerprint EGGS!
- Next take the marker and draw a simple “C” handle coming from the plate. Go from end to the other.
- Finally – open up all your ink pads. Press your thumb onto an ink pad and then onto the cardstock paper, creating thumbprints coming out of the “basket.” Repeat this step until it’s nice and full.
- The last step is to decorate! Add small stickers, draw designs on the eggs etc.
- Leave the completed basket to dry completely, and voila! Your masterpiece is ready to display!
One of the great things about this craft is that it’s Instagram-worthy! Consider snapping a photo of your child’s finished work and sharing it with friends and family. Use our branded hashtag #GluedToMyCrafts to inspire other families to join in the fun!
