Torn Paper Lemon Craft - "You’re the Zest!"

Moms deserve all the love, and what better way to show appreciation than with a handmade craft full of charm, personality, and a dash of creativity? This torn paper lemon craft, paired with the heartwarming phrase “You’re the Zest!” is a fun and thoughtful way for kids (and adults) to express their gratitude on Mother’s Day.

Quick to make, vibrantly colorful, and filled with personal sentiment, it’s an activity that kids will enjoy creating and moms will cherish forever!

Craft Supplies:

Before jumping into the creative process, gather all your supplies. Here’s what you’ll need to create this yellow lemon craft:

  • Yellow Construction Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • You’re The Zest Printable – on our landing page
  • School Glue
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to create your vibrant “You’re the Zest!” craft:

  • First things first – download and print out the FREE provided you’re the zest printable listed above, on a single piece of white cardstock paper.
  • Have kids color in the “leaf” in the design. They can use any type of coloring material and/or colors.
  • Next up, help your child cut/tear their yellow construction paper into small pieces.
  • Now have them use school glue to glue those pieces inside the “lemon” design. Don’t worry about having them make the shapes perfect – lemons are naturally irregular in shape, and the imperfections add character to their design.
  • The final step is to have kids add their own personalization. They can add wiggle eyes, dots for texture, etc.
  • When they are done decorating, allow the finished design to dry completely before gifting.
  • Be sure to also snap a photo and share it with the hashtag #GluedToMyCrafts or tag us to showcase their beautiful artwork. We’d love to see what you create!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
