Handprint Cactus Photo Ornament For Mother's Day

When it comes to Mother’s Day, the quest for the perfect, personal gift can feel like hunting down a rare treasure. This year, why not plant a little love in her heart with a handprint cactus photo ornament?

It’s an adorable DIY project that captures a moment in time and grows with a mother’s endless love. This blog post will guide you through creating a heartfelt keepsake that Mom will cherish for years to come! Happy crafting, my friends!

Handprint Cactus Photo Ornament For Mother's Day

Craft a handprint cactus with your little ones to gift mom on Mother’s Day. This simple and fun craft project is a great way to spend quality time together AND have a memorable piece for the lucky receiver to enjoy for years to come.

Craft Supplies:

  • Flowerpot Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Green Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or String
  • Printed Picture
  • Flower Embellishments
  • optional – Hot Glue Gun

Directions:

  • First things first – download the free “flowerpot” printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper {or any colored paper instead!}
  • Go ahead and color in ONE of the pot designs however you like.
  • Use scissors to trim it out. Go ahead and also cut out the heart design in the middle as well.
  • Next up – trace/cut out a GREEN handprint cutout.
  • Use a black marker to draw several “spikes” all over it.
  • Now cut two equal sized piece of contact paper.
  • Peel the backing off of one piece of contact paper and lay it down, sticky side up, on your work surface.
  • Lay the flowerpot AND handprint cutout on top of the contact paper, facing towards you.
  • Trim down your picture so it fits inside the ornament. Lay it inside the design as well.
  • Now peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of the first.
  • Use your hand to make sure everything is sealed together and that no bubbles exist.
  • When ready, use scissors to trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges.
  • For the final touch, add flower embellishments {if needed – use a hot glue gun} for a customized look.
  • Then hold punch a hole on top and string some string through it for easy hanging.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful green cactus photo ornament piece!
