Popsicle Stick Easter Egg Basket - Kid Craft

Popsicle Stick Basket Craft

We have taken a staple of the Easter season {a basket full of eggs} and made a kid craft out of it! This time we have geared our tutorial towards the older children in your home. If they can handle a low-temp glue gun, this is the craft for them to recreate this season!

Along with the glue gun, you will also need some jumbo popsicle sticks, our decorative egg printable {thanks to DailyArtHub.com for the graphics!} and some simple embellishments. With just a few simple steps and supplies, you too can pull this DIY craft idea together within minutes! Then display as is or maybe even use it as party decoration for your celebrations.

Overall, it’s super easy just how we like it around here on Glued To My Crafts, so be sure to check out the full tutorial below and snag that free printable! Happy crafting, my friends!!!

Need some inspiration for a craft activity with your children? This fun and easy Popsicle stick Easter egg basket is the perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon!

Craft Supplies:

  • Egg Shapes Printable – from our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 9 per craft
  • Low Temp Hot Glue Gun
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Washi Tape
  • Glue Stick
  • Small Decorative Bows

Directions:

  • First things first – print off the free printable listed above in the supply list. Just save and print it out, in color, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You only need one print per egg basket craft but feel free to print as many as you like {please only use our printable for personal use though.}
  • Once you have the eggs printed out, use your scissors to cut out the SIX decorated shapes. Set them all aside and discard excess paper.
  • Now it’s time to assemble your wood stick basket. Get your low-temp glue gun hot and ready.
  • Lay SEVEN jumbo popsicle sticks next to each other, followed by gluing the two remaining sticks the opposite direction. You will now have a basic square shape that looks like a fence. If desired – you can paint your basket.
  • Now grab a single pipe cleaner. Bend it slightly so it looks like a “basket handle” and hot glue it to your assembled popsicle stick shape.
  • Add a long piece of washi tape on top of it, to cover up the hot glue/pipe cleaner ends and give your craft piece a nicer, cleaner look.
  • Now it’s time to add the paper eggs to the basket. Grab your glue stick and paper pieces.
  • Arrange however you like and glue them together so they look they are piled on top of each other. My best explanation for this is a bowling pin formation. Three, then two and finally one on top.
  • Go ahead and use a small amount of hot glue to secure the paper pieces to the back of the wood shape.
  • To finish off the popsicle stick Easter craft, add other embellishments like glitter, small bows etc. to give it your own custom look.
  • Then display proudly for ALL to see!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
