Craft Supplies:
Before you gather the kids around the craft table, make sure you have all the supplies ready. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {4-8 per ornament}
- Red Craft Paint
- White Craft Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Small Paper Plate
- Low-Temp Hot Glue Gun
- Peppermint Candy Printable – on box.com
- Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
- Scissors
- Small Red Craft Rhinestones
- Twine/Ribbon
Pro tip: Lay down newspaper or an old tablecloth to keep cleanup easy and protect your surfaces from paint and glue spills.
Directions:
Now that you have everything ready, it’s time to start crafting! Follow these simple steps:
- First things first – paint your jumbo popsicle sticks. For this step you can do four to eight craft sticks per ornament. For my example image, I did EIGHT popsicle sticks for one design. With that being said, I painted four of them white and the remaining four completely red to create an equal amount. This is where you get the “peppermint candy” look.
- Next up – get your glue gun hot and ready.
- Start by arranging your popsicle sticks into a snowflake shape. Lay one stick horizontally, then position another craft stick on top of it, to form an “X” shape. Secure the sticks together at the center with a small dab of glue. Repeat until you have ALL the sticks in place. Make sure everything is aligned before it dries.
- Now grab your printout. Color in/cut out ONE of candy designs.
- Hot glue it to the center of your assembled popsicle stick shape.
- To finish off the Peppermint Candy Snowflake Ornament – grab your small red craft rhinestones and hot glue ONE on each “tip” of the snowflake.
- Once done, set it all aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
- For displaying – glue some string to the back for easy hanging on the tree or adding to gift packages!
