As the temperatures rise and the world outside begins to bloom, it’s the perfect time to welcome the spring season with a burst of color.

One delightful way for children to celebrate the magic of spring is through a creative craft that captures the essence of the flowers that adorn this season – the hydrangeas.

In this blog post, we’ll explore a step-by-step guide for children to create their own “Q-Tip painted hydrangea” craft that not only provides a fun activity but also offers an opportunity to teach about flowers and colors.

Q-Tip Painted Hydrangea Craft Idea For Kids

Hydrangeas are known for their billowy florets and astounding colors. Ranging from the softest shades of lavender, pink, blue, and even green, they signify thankfulness, grace, and beauty. They’re also versatile, growing in many places around the world and can be painted by the youngest of artists, making them an ideal subject for our crafting endeavor!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Hydrangea Printable – on our landing page
  • Q-Tips
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Paint
  • Glue Stick
  • Small Craft Bow
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – download and print the provided file in the supply list above. You only need ONE print per flower craft.
  • Now grab your various shades of craft paint and squirt them on the paper plate.
  • Take a cotton swab, dip it into the paint, then onto the various circles in the printable, to create little flower buds. Repeat until your hydrangea flowers are nice and full.
  • To finish off the Q-Tip Painted Hydrangea Flower Pot craft – add other embellishments you see fit {like a decorative bow on the flower pot or butterfly stickers!}
  • When done crafting, set aside to let it dry completely, before displaying proudly!!!
