With just a few basic supplies, your little one can create these adorably enchanting little gnome suncatchers which are perfect for decorating windowsills around the house. Let’s get creative!

Craft Supplies:

Before you begin, gather all the necessary materials. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Beard Printable – on our landing page
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Tan Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Scissors
  • White Crepe Paper
  • Stapler

Having everything ready before you start will make the crafting process smoother and more enjoyable.

Directions:

Select a well-lit, comfortable space for your crafting session. Also ensure that your workspace is free of distractions so that your child can focus on the task at hand.

  • First grab and print the provided file on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You need ONE heart shaped print per gnome craft.
  • Using your scissors, trim out the heart design, as well as the center of it. This will become the gnome’s beard.
  • Now grab your clear contact paper and cut off two same length pieces.
  • Take off the protective paper off one of them and lay it on a flat surface, with the sticky side up.
  • Lay your heart cutout on top of it.
  • Now grab your WHITE crepe paper and tear it into small squares.
  • Have your child place those torn pieces on the contact paper, right inside the heart design, to fill in the gnome’s beard.
  • Once done, grab the other piece of contact paper and remove it’s protective sheet.
  • Lay it on top of the other piece and press firmly, making sure every corner is stuck together.
  • Now use your scissors to trim out the finished design.
  • Discard excess contact paper and set aside the heart for now.
  • Next grab the scrapbook paper and tan cardstock paper.
  • Cut out a large triangle shape {the hat} out of the scrapbook paper.
  • Out of the tan, cut out an oval shape for his nose.
  • To finish off the Tissue Paper Gnome Suncatcher, staple the hat and nose piece in place, on the heart design.
  • If desired, you can add make a second hat and nose piece for the flip side of the craft.
  • Then display proudly on a bright, sunny window or on the kitchen fridge with a few pieces of clear tape!

Crafting one project often inspires more creativity. Encourage your child to come up with their own suncatcher designs or other craft ideas. Providing them with the freedom to create fosters independence and artistic growth.
