Thumb-Body Loves You Card Craft

Looking for a fun and easy craft to do with kids this Valentine’s Day? Look no further than this fingerprint Valentine’s Day card craft idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Envelope Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Red Cardstock Paper
  • Washable Ink Pads
  • Baby Wipes
  • Thin Tip Markers
  • Small Googly Eye Stickers
  • Small Heart Stickers

Directions:

  • First access the link listed in the supply list and print it out, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. One printable makes one envelope craft.
  • Next open up your ink pad and lay it next to the printable.
  • Have children press their thumb on the ink pad, then on the printable. Make sure they really press down their thumb.
  • Repeat to make a heart shape out of TWO fingerprints next to each other.
  • Repeat the thumbprint step, several times, to make a whole bunch of hearts coming out of the paper envelope.
  • When done, use baby wipes to remove excess ink off of fingers before washing hands completely at the sink.
  • Now add other embellishments you see fit to give your card some flair {like some googly eyes and drawn on smiles!}
  • Then the last step is to cut out the decorated envelope shape and glue it to the center of a piece of red cardstock paper.
  • And that’s it! Gift away the beautiful Valentine’s Day card creation!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
